Title: KX 500 -89 shock spec
Post by: Swe_K5_89 on March 17, 2013, 09:02:39 AM
How could I find the rear shock specification for my K5 -89?
Trying to find a Öhlins that fitts.
Eye to eye length?
Stroke?
Have test mounted a shock from a KX250 -92 and it seems to be close.
But the lenght of this one is 465mm compared to the original that seems to be 450mm.
Would it be possible to reduce the stroke to get to the same length?
How much strocke is left?
The -92 Öhlins have a stroke of 140mm.

It is much easier to shorten than lengthen. All they do is add a spacer to the bottom of the shaft to shorten to the right length.

But if the stroke on the Öhlin is 140 and the lenght should be reduced with 13-14mm, is the remaining stroke enought?
That's why I would like to know the original stroke.
