Title: changing fork oil.
Post by: bjohn07 on February 09, 2013, 08:01:49 AM
getting ready to put some fresh oil in the forks.  i have to remove them to install new head bearings anyway so i figured why not.  gonna go with 10wt.   so i have changed oil and rebuilt forks on street bikes and hd but i noticed no drain on these.  gotta take them off and drain them.  is there any special type of tools i need to use.  any spring compressor?  and i dont have a manual so what is the cc/ml fluid volume per tube and the air gap measurement.

This is one of three I think.

My supplement says:
Oil Level (fully compressed, without spring)   approx amount of oil at oil change for each fork
E-2           130 +/- 2mm     125+/- 2mm   (Approx 375 ml )

E3 to E5    110 +/- 2mm     120+/- 2mm   (Approx 445ml  to 435ml )

E6 & E7     120 +/- 2mm     Approx 430ml

E8             115 +/- 2mm     Approx 435ml

E9 to 12     110 +/- 2mm     Approx 520ml
