This winter it will be new clutch time for the big K5. What is the best to use for friction plates, Barnet, Stock or other and is anyone using steel plates vs the aluminum stockers. Thanks. Cam.

I have a Tusk clutch I havent had time to install yet,but someone else had one and said they liked it and you cant beat the price. It seems Rick said he liked the stock friction plates if I remember right, but Im sure everyone has a differnt answer. But steel vs aluminum,I think everyone will agree with steel.Way less tranny oil contamination, better wear/life (although I managed to make my stock ones last a long time) and with steel you get a little bit of added flywheel weight effect.

I put a Hinson basket and Tusk plates in mine last winter. Haven't put too many hours on it, but so far, so good. But it does seem to drag a bit when it gets hot. I put the new springs in too.
If you're looking for Tusk parts, I think they are a private label brand from Rocky Mountain.
