I have a Zipty tank that has a crack and was wondering if it was weldable or a lost cause or if any body has a zipty tank for sale thanks.

I just did a quick Yahoo search for plastic welders in my area..Cape Cod,MA...and came up with 8....so you should be able to find someone in your area.
There's also a bunch of listings on e-bay to buy the gun/kit and you could do it yourself after practicing on similar pieces of plastic til you get the hang of it.

The problem is that to work on any type of fuel tank.you need to be licensed...at least in my area....because IF something bad happened, and you or someone/something else went up in a ball of flames....well,you then have Fienstien&Forlizzi Attorneys suing the pants off the guy who worked on it....and quite possibly you as well.Try someone who specializes in fuel tanks.

Say...that's a pretty decent site..I just looked at a few things quick, looks like they're pretty fair priced!
Although,not alot of "quality" stuff.

Ahhhh haha...did you try a few practice runs on a similar piece of plastic to warm up to it first???.....or.....did you just drop your pants and go premature???.....just kidding.
That's cool IMS gave you a break....good to know they'll do that!
-
Yep i just blew it all in one teen age try :-D all or nuttin!!!!

Tim when are you going to come up and visit??? I need some riding buddies
-
I didnt even know you were back or for that matter you had a bike again
-
I fixed one on a 92 kx500 that cracked around the shroud mounts by drilling holes in the end of the crack and using fiberglass resign to patch it. I tried the other plastic weld stuff and epoxies but this is what worked for me. I know you got a new one but just in case it comes up again. Polyethylene is hard to get anything to bond to.

Thank you Meat_Man i just figured it was safer all around to go new i actually got the tank yesterday way sooner then they siad so i cant wait to get riding again thanks again for the tip.
