Title: Swing-Arm Shaft
Post by: dezracer on October 01, 2004, 07:18:50 AM
Can I buy a high quility bolt to use inplace of the swing arm shaft?  I have a hard time paying $27 for a bolt.

As long as the specs are the same (grade, length, thread pitch, etc...) you'll be fine. The one in my old CR500 came from ACE Hardware on Southern in Mesa ;)

I'd pay the $27...and I'm cheap. Just ask anyone.

$27 vote here. I'd hate to bust a swingarm bolt while riding and having the rearend fall apart. Not cool. Cheap insurance.

I'm not sure I understand the differences... a grade 8 is a grade 8 is a grade 8. As long as all the bolts specs are the same I'm not spending $27 dollars for a $5 bolt.

BTW, that CR500 has had that bolt in it for a few years now and it sees alot of abusive big air track time at the hands of my brother in law.

Paul,

Maybe I am thinking about a different bolt that I should.  I understand this to be the main pivot bolt for the swingarm, which I think is hollow.  This size bolt solid bolt is going to be pretty heavy, but I might be mixed up on the bolt we are addressing.

Hmmmm.
