After spending some quality time with my KX I have discovered that it has a 1990 needle in the carb and a 1992 reed cage. Is this a problem? I am going to go buy the correct needle. But as for the reed cage should I buy the correct one or should I keep the one I have? Side note I bought reeds for my 1991 KX125. They did not fit. To the best of my knowledge my reed cage appears to be from a 92. The reeds/reed cage i currently have(92) seem to be smaller than the ones i ordered(91). AND in the reed cage i have a block of plastic that is a reducer. Reducer from the carb boot to the reed cage. Has anyone experimented by removing this piece?

Hmmmm, check this link (http://buykawasaki.com/Site/VIVehicleInformation/VIChooseVehicle.asp?intCatalogID=2&intParts=1) to compare the part numbers between 91 and 92 and see what / if there is a difference in the cages.

The '92 head or cylinder wont fit any other bike,so you dont have a '92 cylinder,just the reed block.Why not just buy a rad valve for a '91?End of problem and more power.The needle I would worry about when you jet the bike,it may run fine with it.
