Hey, y'all- Jeff from GA here! About to buy either a CLEAN '87 500, or a newer one much closer to home. Haven't decided yet... I race offroad, but have a bike for that. I race vintage MX, but have a bike for that, as well. I want a KX 500 to do some gp style motocross riding(some racing) with... I know that the 87 is harder to find parts for, but I am nostalgic and love the styling of that year. I can always put emulators in the forks, and have race Tech build the shock- that, or put a newer front end on it.... Thoughts? Thanx, and glad to be here!

You said it all "I know that the 87 is harder to find parts for". There isn't a significant difference from 87 on, tank is a bit different ans well as the shrouds. Do yourself a favor and get an 89 up.
