Post by: piecset on September 14, 2012, 11:55:03 AM
Does anyone know if there is a 100w lighting stator available for a KX500?

I'm not sure about the Tecate stator but I am running and MZB and not only do I have lighting power but the bike runs so much better with this ignition system than it does with the stock unit.  I know its a bit pricey but its well worth the money.

Baja Designs has a 3-wheeler Tecate modified lighting stator, but it puts out only 35 w.  Its a pale light at best, and modulates with rpm.  It was about $120

If you guys want lights for a few hours, and not doing a lot of night running you would be better off with a couple of lithium ion batteries or one big one.  Depending on the light you could run anywhere from 2 to 6 hrs on a charge.  Led will run longer than hid.  I would not waste my money on a 35 watt peak stator for $120.  I could buy a 5 ahr lithium ion battery and not deal with the flickering.  They fit in the air box and it is pretty easy to build a battery tray for it.

With the MZB system you not only get 100 true watts of lighting power but you get an entire ignition system that for me has made my bike run super crisp.  Pricey?  Maybe a little........but well worth every cent and more.

I run one... for a reason.

there is a MOOSE  "75watt"   stator sitting in a box from my old setup... that would NOT charge my batt......
