Oil is leaking out from around the crankshaft and I'm assuming it's the seal. Can that seal be replaced without splitting the case, and if so, how difficult is it? Thanks, Greg

Crank seals are captive.....have to be installed from the inside....cases need to be split.

If you have'nt already done so...now would be the time to replace ALL the bearings and seals while you have it apart, that way you won't have to tear it apart again sooner, rather than later...just a suggestion.

correct me if Im wrong but the stator side seal should be able to be changed without splitting the cases

Sorry for the dumb question but what side is the stator side?
-
The stator side is the flywheel side.
Both sides are captured you have to split the cases.
