Any guesses as to how long it will be before we start seeing this technology applied to something we can buy at our local dealerships?

That's only 20 year old technology. Might be a while longer.

Have you ever had a 2-stroke run wild? Kill switch does nothing as RPM soars. Can happen when some dumbass decides to run the float bowl dry. Ask me how I know.
 Active Radical combustion at work.

Larry, I might not know much but eager to learn. I have heard of some 2 smoker not turning off but how do you run no gas on the float bowl with out the bike not shutting off? Or is that were the active combustion happens?

I guess I can see where you run the bike till the fuel is exhausted. Just don't understand how it won't shut off.

I've seen both a Detroit diesel and a 300 jet ski get on air and get away.Stuffing the intake with rags was the only way to shut them down. The diesel was a little harder, it ate a bunch of rags.

I was running the bike out of fuel on purpose. Ride was over, bike washed and ready to be put away. Seemed like a good idea to turn the fuel off and run the float bowl dry. As the fuel level in the float bowl drops, the mixture goes lean. It sounded like it had a bad air leak or stuck throttle. RPM goes sky high until it runs completely dry. Kill button had no effect. Won't happen again. :-o

Kawboy, I saw a Detroit started with an air filter that had been cleaned with solvent and not completely dried.
Runaway 2-stroke diesels in metal pole barns are memorable.

Bombadier snowmobiles and Evinrude marine 2 strokes have had their  E-TEC technology for the past 3 years, and is proven comparable to current 4 stroke clean emmissions .
