ay there i just picked me up a new bike to the collection. its an 01 kx250. i would like to get back into motocross and would like to kno what i should do to make this beast race ready. my kx250f just wasnt cuttin it and i definatly liek 2 strokes better. (thats why i ride a 500) we just put a whole new top end on her with all porting work from pro circuit. has a pro circuit pipe and muffler. v force reeds. new chain and sprockets. i want to get my suspension done. but anything i could add to her?

Once you get your suspension done, make sure your jetting is dialed-in,and you should be good to go.Sounds like you've covered everything else...maybe/definitely a new set of graphics?? :?

^^ I would defintily change the graphics. :|

have you considered a new front fender?
ive got a 2012 kx450f front fender on my 98 kx250
all bolt holes lined up, rear of fender doesnt hit the frame or pipe or plastics, and the top of the fender lines up with the number plate pretty d**n good..
makes the bike look SOOO much newer and more importantly, better looking..
i bought a graphics kit for my 98kx250, even though i have a 2012 fender on the front the front fender graphic still worked and doesnt look out of place. i just placed it down low and trimmed the edges sticking past..
you could also do a 03-08 kx250/kx450 fender too, its got a round shape to it that might look better.. the 2012 is pretty sharp edge wise
they all bolt up no problem... i used the 03-08 kx250/450 fender on a 2005 klr250 (enduro) and didnt have to modify anything

You could update front brake to kxf 2013 spec by changing piston; rod;lever, pads. The master cylinder has the same part number so should work.I will be trying this out myself in due course. The slotted rotors on kx wear badly in the middle as well?Better rotors would be nice touch.Oversize even better.

go to the Wiesco flat top piston, vast improvement over stock

Stock 2000+ KX250's were lame in class power, but like anything a little money spent uncorks some great power. PC does a fantastic job at port work, hopefully your port job produces broad power and not a "peaky" type output. If you just want to casually "club race" your KX will do just fine, depending on how much you weigh, you might need some stiffer springs. Kawi experimented with "progressive" springs and they SUCK. Kawi quickly went back to a "straight rate" spring. You will know pretty quickly if you need a re-spring. KX's are awesome bikes all around (i've owned and raced 9 different KX's over the past 25 years :-D ) so keep the s/a and rear linkage bearings greased and antisiezed, keep the rear axle adjuster bolts antisiezed and ride KX happy !
