Title: kx60 rear shock
Post by: chris-mets on May 07, 2012, 02:06:34 PM
My kx60 rear shock is really soft. I havent looked into it yet but is there a way to stiff up the shock or buy a tighter spring? Or would a kx65 shock fit? Anyone?

ALso to run race gas in the kx60 do I need any mods or changes or do you just run it from there? also whats the changes it makes? more compression?

THanks for the help
Chris

figured the shock out...I took the shock off and there was 5 adjustments so I clicked it to the tightest although its still kind of soft.

Check out Race-tech. When you go there find the Spring calculator, I think its called. It will ask you what bike, your weight w/gear and riding conditions, like motocross, trail, supercross ect. You can guess for the most part, at which describes you best. Then it gives you your stock spring rate and their suggested spring rate. You can get one from them or use their info to know what you are looking for. I cannot say for sure what springs are interchangeable on the mimis, but I know that some will. You might find a deal on ebay. You might also try to find someone to recharge your nitrogen. That will help your shock performance for very little cost. The best thing would be to have someone adjust the spring and to revalve the shock. That would set the shock up for you specifically with all of the adjustment you need. I would not overthink all of this though, if I am guessing right, I would say you are gona outgrow the 60 by next season, if you haven't already. You might start thinking about an 85 which will haul you around for a long time.....

I'm thinking the shocks on a 60 are not rebuildable, so you can't recharge the nitrogen. There are some aftermarket companies that do make shocks for the 60

Yeah, the 60 shocks are made to not be rebuildable as to why I am in the market for a heavier spring.

THe aftermarket ohlins shocks are around $500 so that is a no-go!

THe shock right now is on the stiffest setting. I weigh 110 pounds and it is still really soft.

The bike is way too small for me anyways right now but I like riding this bike as my little pitbike. I had a yz85 but I sold that and bought a crf150rb. Still like riding the kx60 the most!
