Title: Airbox boot - I used the stock 500 boot
Post by: mxaniac on April 21, 2012, 05:54:40 AM
Bought the 2000 Honda boot and it wasn't even close on my 2006 frame.  I ended up making a plate that allowed the stock 450f air filter bracket to mount on the inside with the plate on the outside.  I then added holes for the stock 500 airboot which happen to overlap the 450f filter frame.  I slightly countersunk the holes from the inside and ran clinch nuts such that they were flush on the inside protruding out.  The stock 500 boot and ancillary components then fit up rather nicely.  The clinch nuts have the fastners going in them the opposite direction as intended but I suspect it will be OK with the 8-32 screws I used loctited in.

Boot conversion is interesting! I have some minor clearance issues on my Service Honda. I noticed the kick starter sits on the outside of the frame. I'm assuming it's because the Pro Circuit pipe has a different bend or taper in that area?
