Title: low pipe
Post by: 450 OX on April 03, 2012, 08:53:21 AM
can anyone here confirm that fmf made a low pipe that can be used with the zip ty tank set-up? :? seems to me that I only remember a pipe offered by flow...  thanks Joe

They did, but they are no longer available.  Unless you know somebody at FMF to give the go ahead to make more, you cannot get them. I called them and they had no interest in making one for me.

On a similar note, is it possible to get the Zip Ty tanks any more? They were made through IMS, right?

Called Zip-Ty today. They didn't have much to say, other than the tanks and pipes are not available.
I called IMS and they said that they could make the tanks for $275 each.
I then talked to FMF and they didn't want to make the pipes any more.

So it looks like we can still get tanks, but we're on our own for pipes.

A while ago someone mentioned this guy here. He needs a bike to workoff to make the pipes I'm considering having a lowboy made if enough interest, I'd get my bike down there.

With a low pipe like that will the standard silencer still work or would there need to be mods like mounting angle change? I'm kinda interested just depends on price.

I'm currently running PCII and FMF Turbine Core. Like the PC better than the FMF as far as power delivery but would like something better.

I know a guy who will re route/manafacture my millet from underslung to low boy in small batches, will be a top end job though, no good for woods. ?????

He's in the US, or I will as promised, give the specs to anyone capable of remanafacturing for the collective 'KX Massive'. We seriously need to do a pipe measuring thread to map all kxr pipes, will happily do the math, just need everyone's input who has a pipe most dont, loosen ya sphincters, it's not port timing............

Just cruising around the Service Honda site today and stumbled upon this:

That, my friends, is a FMF Gnarly on a KX500AF. FMF won't make Zip-Ty low pipes any more, but they're making these.

The expansion chamber is low enough for sure. Looks like it is too low to meet the KX500 muffler though. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to cut off the last taper and route it up.

It is a tight fit though. Look how it touches the radiator hoses.

The price is $229. They also sell a carbon fiber pipe guard for $149.95.

doesn't look a million miles away from the zipty tank version.
