Title: Hello from Ohio Just purchased 1986 KX 500

Hello all, Just purchased a 1986 kx 500 off of ebay for $650. Bike is in extremely good shape ...planning on a winter project type thing ...any suggestions on mods to a factory machine ?

Ohio here too, which part are you in?  You really dont need any mods in the forests here, engine wise that is, barkbusters and maybe radiator guards and a skid plate may be nice.  My 99 KX 500 is stock except for the suspension being setup for my weight (300lbs), and a set of Renthal bars with a higher rise than stock.  Gearing, pipe and silencer are all stock as atleast I feel its the best blend of everything from woods riding to when it opens up to gravel roads and strip mines.  I will say that the best tire combo I've found is the Michelin M-12 front with either a Michelin S-12 or Maxxis SI rear.  Hope this helps, enjoy that bike!     :-D

I've got a 500 b2 aswell, so if your struggling for any parts I can usually find them, stock or hopped up.shout up if you do.K.
