Kickstarter Shaft

Is the OEM Kickstart Shaft the same as the revised version? Bolt that mounts lever to starter shaft is stripped, so I need to use same mount with new lever. Will that work?

also is the bolt that holds the kickstarter to the shaft right hand thread or left hand ?
it is stripped but i figured i could weld a bolt to it then replace it , if the top shaft is a different diameter on the new kicker starter assembly

The threads are standard right hand on my 2000.
 I'm sorry I don't have any other kickstart years to look at or compare.
    It might be better to save up and get the whole assembly.   If you just get the top and it doesn't fit
(the bottom you have) you'll have to wait for the bottom piece to get shipped. 
   That is if I understand your question correctly.   
  New top to old kickstarter bottom ( that attaches to the kickstart shaft).
