Friar-Tuck you were right i pulled the plastic cover off and started the bike and when it was reved the levers never moved. so next question how do i fix it?

blocked exhaust or power valve operation/timing. a couple of things to look at

I have an 86,87, and a 93 chassis with an 86 engine in it right now, all 500's. we used to ride snowmobiles over there up until  about 6 years ago,then we bought a cabin between rose city and hale on ausauble lake. we also deer hunted over there up off 8 mile rd. i dont think i am going there this year,[no deer]
