new kx owner
« on: September 07, 2011, 02:20:42 PM »
As a teenager i always wanted a kx . my friend had a 87 kx 125 .  92 kdx 200 and a klr 250 . finally at 36 i have my kx lol . bought a 1995 kx 500 .  i plan on using it for the 30 + veteran class here at the local track also . It has the usual mods  . fmf pipe stock bore but the compression is a bump higher . I did have a hard to start issue  but after having the carb cleaned out and soaked in cleaner it cranks within the first or second kick . still thinkin of doing a compression release mod . I am in pensacola florida . so if anyone is in the area look me up .

 Well Hello OM693,
Glad to have you with us!  I have the compression release and squish re-cut first out on my list of things "To-Do"
on my bike (2000 kx5).   The advice I always give new 5oo riders is throttle control!
Well that and get a manual :-D Hope you enjoy the time you get to spend with us here.

 Bike looks great OM,
Have you had a chance to ride the bike at a track?   I'm pretty sure the guys who ride mx may have a few tips on getting the bike set-up for the track.

havent had any track time yet . working 2 jobs my free time gets less and less but i always try to get some r&r time on the bike as a stress reliever . they are reopening a motocross track about 30 minutes from here . until then the closest one is an hour away . i know the class i want to run in is the stock open class so my bike will be close to the way it is now
