Fuel petcock very hard to turn

<< < (2/3) > >>

MinitubbedvegA:
Anybody know of one with a reserve? I have a bad habit of runing low on fuel real far from my truck...

Thanks all!
Didn't really want to replace with a stocker.....
Now I have a few options when I stop into the bike shop.

Take your Dremel Tool and cut off 2 coils of the spring inside the petcock. This will lessen the preload on the nylon cone.

Smear a tiny bit of antisieze on the nylon packing, and the actuall steel valve. Grease the oring and your valve should rotate reasonably smooth. My 500's valve works nice and smooth, but my old '97 KX250 was very stiff. Some are KX's work smooth some don't.
