gear ratio

what kind of gear ratio is 12/50 for sprokets i bought a 89 kx  500 and it has a 12 in the front and a 50 in the back i ride in the woods up in the moutains is this good for what im doin

Edit:  how the *&^ did you get a 12T to clear the cases?   13T rubs.....

hey i have 12/50 on my 89 kx250 , lots of low end

k i looked and with the twleve bein in the front i have lots of wear on the case, what size should i put in the front to not wear anymore that will go with my fifty in the back , just cause i dont want it to wear right through the case and it is porettyu far as is so if some one knows what size does not rub and will go with a fifty in the back let me know thanks
