Transmission k5 six speed

I never said any of it would fit...

I just ran the numbers to see if it was even worth looking into further.. and its not..



unless your just looking for braggnig rights.. or want an extra gear to shift through between stop and top....



Id love to find a 6 speed that would fit the K5 that would give a 2.35 first, and a .690 6th ratio

GREETINGs, I'm Building K5 for WERA road racing. I need 6 gears, Why ? 1ST is to low...This is what I'M thinking IF the Tecate 4, gears would fit in the K5 cases,,,, Take  1st gear OUT  and replace it with 2nd,  :-) replace 2nd with 3th, :lol:  replace 3th. with the 4th. K5 gears  8-) then use KXL650  - 4th which is an overdrive, :roll: then the KX5 -5th gear, :wink:  then use KXL650-5th gear which is an overdrive gear also, :evil: for the 6th gear.      What u thank about that ???  --    KXL650, 4 and 5 gears are taller then
K5 - 4th and 5th gears...and thay give you an extra 25 mph....over the K5 fifth gear.

If only it was that easy..

Few issues...
first gear is part of the shaft... cant just be "removed"
on the Tecate tranny 3rd and 4th gear are one piece... so cant just change thsoe around..

I have looked into using KLX650 gears... 5th is the same gear ratio (tooth count)...  but differant primary which is the change (if memory serves)

and finaly... nothing would line up .. (shift dogs, shaft splines, etc etc)..

the tecate 4 is a balance shaft engine, I highly doubt the gears would fit in the K5 case. but I could be wrong.
