Bigger forks for KX500
(1/1)
RICHK:
I read out there somewhere that the best thing to do is replace the 43mm KYB Forks on my 500 with something newer and better i found a complete triple tree, fork, wheel and brake complete combo off a 2002 WR250f there still KYB but an upgrade to 46mm and of course newer than my 94 forks what are the odds off these being a complete bolt on like with minor mods or am i in for a challange I dont mind working and am a great fabricator but the difficulty of install will guide my purchase price the harder it is the cheaper ill go
sandblaster:
I don't know anyone who has done that exact swap.
I would pull your front end off and simply compare your triple clamps.
Chances are you should be able to see the differences.
Maybe do a test fit on the triple tree's.
If they bolt on, don't bind and the stops are in the right place, put it together and ride it.
Post some pics and tell us what you run into.

The newer 500 like 2000 and up with triple clamps should be a direct swap.
sandblaster:
Yes, 97 and newer kx500 used the 46mm chrome diameter.

That will work I think that year of yama is a steel frame and should have the small top bearing. Worst case you might need to swap stems
