kx500 Engine WHAT YEAR IS IT?

Hi i have just signed up to this GREAT site.

I need help with my k5 engine and what year it is.
or could be. I have posted a Pic. I heard the 88 engine
is meant to be a  POWER HOUSE ?

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

looks like an '86 to me I think they were silver by '88, but not 100 percent sure.

I vote 86-87.     Looks very similar to my 87 (without going out and looking at it). Same bolt on water elbow on head.. Kips sticker box cast on cyl...

THE ENGINE IS SILVER LIKE THE K5 ENGINE THATS SAYS KIPS
ON THE BORE. UNDER THE BLACK FLAKY PAINT
BUT DOES NOT SAY KIPS ON THE SIDE?

AND I WOULD USE TO FIND OUT BUT SOME NOBHEAD
HAS CUT THE NUMBER ENGINE NUMBER OFF. ARSHOLES.
