Symptoms of bad reeds

What symptoms does a 2 stroker bike exhibit if the reeds are shot?

Folke:
The engine is missing (Shot like a gun) like a ignition trouble.
The engine blubber.
No reaction if you change Main jet or Slow jet.
Compression low.
Poor running or no power at low/high speed.

I put in some Power Reeds.  The manufacturer includes a flat piece of metal to hold down the reeds.  I assume that I do not need the original reed mounting guards???
