dooped with a kx 500
s5pablos:
i recently swopped my rd legal 92 kdx 250 mint too for a 97 model kx 500 which apparently only needed a crank seal, wen i started stripping it i noticed the frame had snapped and been welded up where the seat joins with the fuel tank was wondering if this was common and could i get the engine and the rest to go on a 250 frame? it also wants a piston and crank and main bearings but surprisingly the barrel is like new have i been dooped or is the kx worth keepin? im new to the kawi scene as iv always been a honda lad up until the kdx which has always been 100% reliable but always wanted a 500 b it cr or kx so didnt really wana miss it
BDI:
Sounds like a fair trade to me.
Rd:
You could part it out and come out $$ ahead of what a 92 KDX250 is worth. Hang on to the K5 and fix it. You will not regret it.
maddoggy:
yah, part it out. maybe i could finally seal the deal on getting a set of wheels from somebody.

This situation pi$$es me off so badly ! There is some dickhead out there smiling with a mint '92 KDX250....
I've never really heard of KX500 frames "snapping" where you describe under the seat (unless someone threw your bike off an 80 ft cliff ? ) :-D
I think your only solution is cut your losses, and part that bike out on EBay for whatever you can get. You have been schooled the hard way on lying sellers/traders.... Next time try to bring a 2 stroke educated friend as a second set of eyes in the future.. he may see trouble spots that you the excited potential buyer may not be seeing...
