Anybody in the midwest that wants to see a real good hillclimb event, its gonna be the weekend after this one. If you are familiar with Kings Island amusement park in Ohio, it is very close to there. The best amatuer hillclimbers in the country will compete for national standings, on a Pro Hill, known as Devil's Staircase. Previously has only had pro riders on the hill, and to my knowledge never had 450 riders wearing it out. Its a very long hill. Nothing like the short hills on my vids. Sign-ups are closed, but it will be a great spectator event. It will definately have the best of the best showing their skills, and every kind of bike with the majority having custom components seen nowhere else, and like no other form of racing. Vintage to modern. Stock to maximum modification, guaranteed to see things you have never seen before, and every walk of life riding their machines. Don't forget a camera and a notebook...

Don't forget YOUR camera because most of us will have to watch this through you.  I for one, enjoy your vids.  Keep'em coming.

I won't be racing there this year. They have things pretty screwed up for my taste. That and I am kinda low on funds for the event. $50/class, 100 for a transponder, gate fees, motel, food and gas. angry  They decided not to run stock length classes, I busted the rear wheel on my 200 last weekend, and the 500 has not been tamed yet. (Whining smiley face here) No payouts, only trophies, and I do not put myself in the best in the country category to make it all worth it. You have to pre-register (and pay) months in advance, which is near impossible for me to do while running a business. Hell, I may not even have a home in a few months, let alone have an extra 500 bucks and the weekend off, for a 20th place trophy.
Things kinda stacked up against me this year for a run at a national title. Devil's Staircase has signed a 3 year deal with the AMA , or somebody, to have the race there, so I will have my chance in the next couple years, if things work out better. I have not ruled out going to spectate and help my teammates, but that will also be tough, and basically only a little cheaper. If I go, I will be making a DVD, but we will have to see. It seems like this offroad addiction that I have, is destiny sometimes. Things always get diificult and I cannot figure out how things will turn out, then BAM, it all falls into place. I quit trying to understand it and just enjoy the way things turn out these days. Thanks for the compliment, Danger.
