Bottom End Leak Down

(1/2) > >>

bob larry:
Hey guys,

My top end is out getting a new life........If I put a plate across the top end opening ( with the gauge and valve installed into the plate) couldn't I leak and vaccum test the bottom end to see
if I need to tear it all apart?

The gauge came in the mail and I have the stuff to make it after my rebuild.....but I am bored waiting for the jug to come back.

With a good plate over the top end it should hold 6 psi for a long time.......no.?

Let me know what you think

Bob,
If you make the plate to seal, then yes you can test it that way. And it should hold 6 psi for at least 10 minutes.
Also make sure you do a test after the motor is together to confirm everything up top is sealed too (mine had a leak thru the power valve seal)
Keep us posted on your findings!

Yup!

Good Call.... :-o

Would be a messy silcon battle to seal around the rod.

The seal kit came in so I'll just tear it down.
