Sealing my transmission output
tschisi:
Hi guys!
My transmission output is leaking.
1990 k5.
I searched the forum and found people talking about a seal and an o-ring on the shaft.
In the drawings i can only find the o-ring.

I must admit that i didn?t take off the sprocket yet.
My question is now if the o-ring is the only thing that i will probably have to replace and if it is easy to change, without getting the shaft out of the case or something...
thx
BDI:
It is easy to replace. I have found lots of times that it does not need to be replace it only gets pushed out of the way by high pressure water washing. If you pull the sprocket and then pull the spacer from behind the sprocket you will find the o-ring on the shaft.

The seal that you will need to replace is directly behind the sprocket. (and can be replaced from the outside) Behind this is your spacer, then the o-ring that will need replaced.
92049: SEAL-OIL
BDI:
If your seals and o-ring are clapped out and need to be replaced you also need to replace the metal coller or flip it over if it has never been done before. It gets groves in it and it can leak again even if you put a new seal in.

The knuckle dragging pikey who owned mine before me decided it didnt need the spacer..... :x
