I'm a new member.  I started riding desert about 4 years ago on a '98 Husaber FX-600.  What a great bike to get started on.  Tons of power, great handling, etc..  About a year ago I started saving for a 2nd bike.  While I was saving I started riding all of my friends new 4-strokes.  CRF-450, WR-426, KTM-525 EXC...  None of them had the power that my Husaberg delivered.  The CRF-450 was close, but only on the top end.  I started to wonder if I could ever get a 2nd bike that would impress me as much as my Berg...  Then I rode my friends '01 KX-500 about a month ago.  My 1st experience on a 2-stroke..  WOW !!  I was hooked immediately.  Picked up an '04 KX-500 about a month ago and if I wasn't married, I would take it to bed with me.  My Husaberg is gettting jealous since it hasn't been out of the trailer since I picked up the new 500.  Now I'm obsessive on turning my 500 into the ultimate desert giant.  I have re-geared the sprockets, jetted it to Team Green specs, run nothing but 110 race gas, installed a Zip-Ty KX-KIT with tank, pipe and silencer, Scott's stabilizer kit and shark fin.  New ASV clutch and brake levers (I always hated those lever guards).  My wish list is going to send me into divorce I'm sure..  Includes Power Now, V-Force reed cage, skid plate, frame guards, flywheel weight, Moose spacer (actually that I can afford and is on the way), Pro Taper bars (I had to settle for the $18 taller steel replica bars so I could fit the Scott's stabilizer for now), Paddle tire, and maybe some Excel black or gold wheels...  Anyways, this site is great.  I have learned so much in just the past week.  Thanks everyone !!  I live in Carlsbad (San Diego) CA.  Ride about once a month in Beaumont with my Brother in law who lives right next door.  Take a few trips to Borrego during the winter (just got back last weekend), and off to Baja about twice a year.  Considering racing District 38 out at Superstition.  I classify myself as a beginner rider, but love the best of the best.  Somewhat obsessive about my bike !! :-)
