Awesome workmanship Larry. I got my head back yesterday and was amazed how well it looked. Mine loked exactly as the pic above does - looks like a factory item. Now I cannot wait to get my cylinder redone so I can put it all back together. I give this mod an A+++. This is also a very good price for the services Larry performs - trust me when I say you will be happy with it.

Any chance you are working on a cable activated version using a hot start lever?

Just had my first ride with the compression release and it worked fantastic. Larry Wiechman does great work. I wish I had this modifcation 19 years ago when I bought the k5(3 kickstarters and many kicks later). Don't hesitate to get this done even if you are just thinking about it.

Placement won't be a problem. I'll work out a location for special installations. I'll send a PM with more details.

I designed a cable operated reset for the small automatic compression release valves. Just wanted to get an idea of how much demand there would be for them before I put any more time into the project. What do you think, great or gimmick?

 Larry,
That sounds like something the bikes with a desert tank would  be able to use for sure.
I'm not in the position financially to buy a set of grips right now, but I would think the  designs you all  have come up with are excellent.
Has A.J. at Service Honda Been in contact with you guys?   This would be a great item to put on his list of available amenities.

I have to say I have a lot of respect for the Fabricator Guys on this site.
Not only do I envy the skill and workmanship, but lots of other forums I have visited would be backstabbing and flaming each other without fail..
Thanks for being Stand Up Guys!   It Matters!!!

very nice setup larry, excellent craftsmanship!!! if i ever get on my bike again i may send my head to you for this mod. sure would be sweet to kick the big k5 over with minimal effort after a long day of sand rid'n. at the end of a long day sometimes it feels like your kick starting a 502 big block.

Larry

There is a reason that there is all kind of aftermarket hot start levers, and bikes like XR650R, older WR's, and KTM's come with bar mounted decompression levers. We humans are lazy and like things readily at our findertips, thus I do not feel a lever and cable operated decompression is a gimmick.

with standard tank etc dont think it can get much  easier the pushing a button that reset itself at your left knee
my view is with cable/ lever it is just more thing to go wrong  or even people holding lever while starting engine

Do you really want to be feeling around for a decompression button at your left knee if you stall on a nasty hill climb, etc.

If I'm on a nasty hill, and have stalled it, who cares, I'm going to point it down, in second gear I'll bump start it. now if your talking about a hill that you MAY be able to continue on after you get it started that would be a different story, although even then I would ask how you did it before the compression release. The compression release is a great idea, primarily when the bike is cold, after that usually one good kick and its running.
