Is this piston good?

(1/2) > >>

JustinSB:
It looked to me like it started to seize, but I thought it might just be carbon because it is in the areas which line up with the exhaust ports. It is a cast piston, which bothers me. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!

From the photos, the scarring seems excessive... If it were my bike I'd definitely replace the piston and check the nikasil coating for any flaking. 8-)

KX500freak:
yes same here ,and replace piston earlier next time ,this one seems almost polished :P

JustinSB:
A new one is going in. I just got the bike. I'm glad I caught it before it was worse and did cylinder damage or disintegrated.

were your rings welded in the gap or do they move freely? looks like you KIPS are very gummed up or not operating correctly, or both. JMO
