exaust leak at cylinder port

(1/3) > >>

J.Patterson:
I pulled off the pipe and found deep grooves in the right side cylinder exaust port where the o-rings seat. Is this common? Any recomendations for a fix.

Paul:
Is the pipe mount under the tank still there? Has it been repaired? Chances are the pipe mount was broken - or is now - and was left that way for awhile. Doesn't take long...

Rick:
When you install your pipe, smear on a liberal amount of black high temp silicon, right over both o-rings, and then shove the pipe into the exhaust port.  The grooves are caused by the pipe moving around.  Not only does the silicon restrict movement, it will also create a better seal than the o-rings and give you more bottome end throttle response.

teamgreen500:
You might need NEW O-Rings AND a NEW COPPER Ring. As these get worn they allow the pipe to move TOO Much in the cylinder port.

I change about every 60 hours (When I ring/top-end).

Manny

Rick:
Wow, Manny, you rering the top end every 60 hours?  That would make be installing 10-12 top ends a year  .  I usually do only three top ends a year, even with all the riding.
