(1/2) > >>

fredodido:
i have just done a buttom end rebuild and my crank case will not come back together smootly... i should not need to press it do I?...

it is my first time rebuilding a kx 500, should those cases come together easily?  they came out super easy not even using a puller... everything is at it,s place, it seem like...

any idea.
Thanks

kxracer:
they need a gentle press together.

You can buy a tool from Rocky Mountain ATV or look at www.kx250.info for the one I made from bits of steel bar, tube and threaded rod.

It took 30 seconds once the bars and tube were in place.

kxracer:
please find attached a diagram and some instructions on how to use my homemade pressing tool.

kaw rider:
Do you have a wedge in the crankshaft.

kxracer:
No I did not, the Clymer manual suggests this and I fell of my chair when I asked the local Kawa dealer for one.
It was over $ 200 and thet had never sold one.

You could machine a piece of wood as from what I can see it is an oblong piece of metal with a slot at one end.

A piece of well machined mahogany or teak would probably suffice.
