A long weekend made into a short story:
I got in contact with Doldguy about meeting up at a drag race.  We set it up for last weekend and I was ready to head about 6 hrs. South.  Unfortunately CBX couldnt make it so he lent out his K5 to one of his jockys and Dough906 was having some issues with his K5 so I lent him mine and decided to just run the 250.
Left around 7pm Sat and Doldguy had us set up to stay around Richmond, not far from him.  Arrived around midnight crashed out a few hours then met up with him for breakfast.  Then we made about an hour drive to the track and I got to meet Yunggunnaz and their whole crew.  I believe it was a great time by all and I truly appreciated meeting the guys from this site.  Packed up around 8pm and made it home around 2:30 am Monday.  A long weekend and drive but Doldguy really took us young-fellas under his wing.     wink
Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hopefully seeing you guys @ BBDR dirt drags sometime.

it was a good turnout for sure.glad to meet you all.great bunch of guys and i believe gal(one).your bikes were impressive.so was the riding.you had the gearing spot on.(don't tell what it was, some haven't figured it out and i'm not telling).tall guy with the 86 kx got frustrated and left early because it wouldn't shift.gonna give him the big piston and some more then put another rider on it to show the difference in beginner style and old man.the 250 ran straight as a arrow(they all said this before you ran 42,which had not been beat straight up).that rd thing we spoke of is in the works.videos of your passes will be up soon.got to go put dyna ignition on 20 mil twister for upcoming race.later fellows.

Finally have some of pics to post of CBXRacers hired guns from the North grin
New track to them & they finished 1st 250 & 2nd 500, pretty impressive for the 1st time out & quite a bit of competition (if memory serves me 27 in the 250 class). I hope its okay to post a picture of that RED bike & I promise to keep you anonymous ROOST DADDY. My bikes had a horrible weekend but the PA Boys made it very enjoyable for myself (even with a shredded tire on the trailer on the way home).

Dough / Roost / Alex Thanks Again, & look forward to seeing you guys again either down here or up there.

That's a trick looking KX! What's the story on the pipe, clutch/clutch cover and wide rear rim?
Why don't sand racers use paddle tires, rules or results?

Larry,
That is CBXRacers KX500, running a Jemco pipe. I told the boys to put on the paddles, but they showed up with knobbies & finished as stated (what do I know). That clutch cover is nice & if you get in touch with CBX (good guy/he has a fixture) & your machining capabilities you can be our resident clutch cover guy, but I am 2nd in line to have it done grin

Doug, are you selling me out.  Haha  nice pics from a great weekend.

Larry, as Doug mentioned Ron's 500 has a Jemco pipe that is a good high revving system.  They come in either a "stinger-style" or "built-in silencer."  Clutch cover is definatly trick.  I will have one on my K5 someday.  And for the wide rim, it is a Sun Rim that I believe is about 5.5" wide.  I currently run a 4.25" on my K5, but Ron's rim looks wicked in person.

Why dont sand racers use paddles?  They actually do, some people just dont come too prepared.  We just were fortunate enough that our knobbies worked out.

Races again this weekend (18th) & hope that the PA boys can make it down again. Have the little bikes ready & hope to do a couple of test runs prior to Sunday to confirm. Any members that can make it, look for the Old & Fat Guy riding little green bikes, that will be me, so stop by & say hello!

CBX & Roost hope you guys make it down & Roost I will have a bag of seed & a bag of fertilizer to strap on that RED bike to make the weight even  cry (just kidding)

Unfortunately I wont be able to attend.  As much as I'd like to, I've got to be at work early Monday and would probably be rolling home about the time I'd need to be leaving for work.  Dont understand how you can have 3 weeks Vacation and still not manage to get a day off.
Doug, I hope you got everything fixed with the little bikes and have a good time.  Tell Rennie and the boys I hope to see them next month @ Planet Sands in Kentucky.  Hopefully we can make it down by the end of the year to play again.

definately too cold in PA to get excied for racing yet.  But I do wish some of the Big bikes and quads would come up here for the big money shoot-outs.  I believe both of these races had $1000 up for grabs last year as should be the same for this year.

Roost & CBX came down from PA last month with a few others from their crew. I was feeling horrible but managed to get there late on Saturday & after some conversation & meeting the rest of the guys, Roost talked me into riding his RED bike, so I put him on my GREEN 250 & we headed to the starting area. Not knowing how his bike would launch, I was a little conservative but soon found out there was no need to as it hooked well & went straight. Thinking that he get out on me (he is almost 100 lbs lighter) I was surprised that I did not see him & soon realized that I was NOT going to see him as I hit the button to shift. That FREAKIN RED BIKE is EXTREMELY fast! I am grateful for Roost letting me ride it, but also frustrated knowing how far off the mark my 250 is (but I am working on that).

Race day on Sunday (still feel like crap), arrive at the track & CBX opens up a spot next to the PA Crew to park. It looks like a Kawi Dealer at their trailer with so many K5s at the trailer (that RED Bike just seemed out of place  grin) & all of the guys were ready to take on the well known "396" bike which was trying to keep the VA boys proud. First round of racing saw one of the PA boys (CBX Jr/On a GREEN Bike) show he was going to be the one to beat in his class. When the 500s ran, the 396 bike showed he was the one you would have to beat to win the class, BUT the PA boys made it known he better not make ANY mistakes because they were right there! Then the 250s ran & Roost RED BIKE showed he had that class covered as his times were very close to the fast 500s & faster than most!

Then Mowbrey had his run on the banshee, which runs very good, especially carrying that BIG ARSE down the track  grin & served notice he would be one to watch.

After the first round Fowlers bike (396) was hurt but was still running & he was not going to just give it to the PA Crew, they would have to earn it. On one of the rounds, Roost got out on the 396 bike & had Fowler wondering if he would be able to get him, the finish was VERY close. CBX & Crew kept knocking off the local guys, which left the 500 class with 1 VA boy (Fowler) and PA boys (Roost, Todd, Rick & Donnie). Fowler kept us proud (I dont know how that thing survived) and I, with many others, enjoyed the close racing they brought down.

CBX Jr won his class, Roost dominated the 250 Class, PA boys take all but the top spot in the 500 class & Mowbrey was in the finals of his class, needless to say, they made it known the "PA Crew" is a force to be reckoned!

Now if we only would have got a pic of you on the RED Bike, that would've been....priceless.  wink
