Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm not new to the two wheeled world. I started riding an 89 Kdx200 when I was 14...I had to sell it when I moved though. I was able to ride my step dads Kx500 when I went to visit my mom though. I got out of riding till I got my license...then started riding road bikes. My current road ride is a (don't hate me) CBR1000.
I finally got back to the dirt though. I purchased a 91 Kx125 and Kx500 as a package deal today. The 125 runs but has water leak at the base gasket, not that big of a deal. Already got the gasket kit to fix it. I pulled the bike down to the frame to give it a fresh coat of paint, clean everything and replace the bushings/bearings. The 500 is a differnt story. It started life as a 80's Kx250 (what I was told), then at some point someone swapped the 500 into it. How true that is, I don't know. If it was a swap, it was a very clean one (unless it is a direct bolt in deal...this area is shady to me). The pipe lost its springs and the motor ran lean, melting the pistion and taking the sleeve and head with it. I plan on hitting ebay for some parts for this one.
I'm sure I'll have a few questions along the way of my rebuilds. And I'm sure I'll find my answers here...looks to be a great site.
