Tn. KX500
« on: June 02, 2009, 08:40:49 AM »
I am buying a 1993 KX 500 this weekend.  I have always wanted a big bore-stroke and this one looks good.  I am mechanically inclined, I worked on the bench for honda for a few years, but I am sure you guys will be able to help me plenty.  I am already planning to re plate instead of resleeve, the bike has original bore, it is quite possible that it has less than 20 hours on it total!  I am a little worried about the poor quality of plating I have been reading about, but hopefully its not true to all Kawi's. Any feedback on this model will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome. Picture of the bike would be great. Just don't see many mint 93 model bikes. The upper pipe mount under the fuel tanks is prone to breaking, the kicker starter lever will break (order one from 04 model, changes have been made), You know the routine with buying older bikes, there always seem to be service items that need addressed. Good luck and have fun.
