Hello from Central CA
« on: May 17, 2009, 11:19:24 AM »
Hello. i recently was given an 87 kx250 to use with option to buy later down the road. this is my first real dirt bike. bike seems to be in pretty good shape. motor was supposedly just rebuilt. after doing a visual on it, only could find minor things wrong with it. chain slider missing, chain/sprockets worn, brake pads worn with very little fluid in either of the resevoirs. no apparent leaks except for the puddle of gas underneath the bike on the first night i had it at my house. forgot to turn off the gas. bike runs strong but has a surge problem at idle. doesn't die, just revs up by it self. hopefully i can get a sound clip or video so you can hear and help me figure out the problem. i like that it is water cooled as here in central ca, 100+ degrees is already here :-(
i also ride a dr650. so glad to finally have a bike to ride trails that doesn't weigh 350lbs. good side to that is having learned on that pig, i should be able to keep up and pass my riding buddy on the trails with the kx

Thanks in advance for all the help i am going to ask for.

TT
