Getting back on green
« on: May 19, 2009, 10:44:04 AM »
Hey im a 17 year old from kansas, i used to ride a kx 60 back in the day, I recently found this site because I was researching on what to to with my 1986 KX 500 that I bought for $50 and the only thing that wasn't apart was the cases. The old man I bought it from kept everything in buckets with certain parts in a certain bucket with bolts in all there so he saved me alot of time. When my grandpa heard that I was working on this for my senior project for school he told me he had a broken 94 kdx 200 that if I came and got it I could have it. So I obviously couldn't refuse that so I got 2 broken down Kawis in the garage now and of course my full time bike an 06 KTM 250sxf. I need to get the 500 done soon cause my dads riding me about having kawi parts spread all over the place. Does anyone know any good cheep resourses for parts cause im workin at a little over minimum wage and got

Welcome to the site. Can't wait to see pictures of that 86 500 once it get done. Sorry to say but not to many places selling parts for that 86 model bike. I restored a 87 500 and e-bay was my best friend but I over paid on alot of items just because you got to have that one part.

Welcome to the site. I bought an '86 KX500 new....yeah I'm old, I loved it. I was 165lbs and it was a hand full. Good luck with the bike.
