New KX 125 and KLX 300R Guy
« on: May 22, 2009, 03:18:25 AM »
Hello guys and gals.  While I do not own either bike (my borther-in-law owns the 2001 KLX300R; and I just purchased, fixed up and sold the 2000 KX125 to my neighbor) I service both.  I have pretty much come up to speed on the KLX and all its quirks by networking on another site.  But I could use some more specific help on the KX125.  I also have a friend who wants some help on his '98 KX250... so I'll be asking questions and searching for past topics related to my work/hobby of fixing bikes.

My interests right now revolve around 1) an idle problem on the '98 KX250, which idles fine at cold and then starts to oscilate up and down when it gets warm after runing about 10 minutes.  I think it may be sucking air somewhere but need help in diagnosing the problem.  Is it a carb issue, a gasket/seal somewhere, and if so, where?  And 2) some questions about how to set the KIPS.  I did not take off the gear up in the head/jug.  I just slid the two slides out and cleaned them.  So, do I need to do some sort of re-timing?

I'll search for answers to these.  Any help directing me to appropriate threads/topics would be appreciated.

Thanks
