Help Please Carb problem

I have a 1991 kx500 and i just changed the jetting main-162,pilot-55 and put it all back together and bike started up first kick and ran great sounds more like a 2smoke now and was ready to go. but i noticed that when i shut the bike off gas would poor out of the bottom vent hoses that come out of the carb, isnt that just supposed to happen when the bike is flooded. i dont know why that is happening but it doesnt do that when bike is running can some body please help me out is this an easy fix what did i mess up now ha.thanks

If this was my bike, I would take a very careful look at the needle and seat. There could be some debris holding the needle open. Also I would look very closely to see if the float moves up and down without sticking. And then I would look closely at the float itself to determine if it is waterlogged. ( actually gas logged ) If every thing looks better than perfect, then I would check the float adjustment, but it has been my experience that the adjustment does not usually change. Look very close and careful.
 But since this isnt my bike, what do you plan to do ?

i am going to look at the float and needle im pretty sure thats what it is because the jets seated find i will try this later on today and i will keep posted im sure it has to do with the float. thanks

Make sure you set your float level. The float seam should be parallel to the carb body. It also helps to run it just a bit low to prevent overflow on rough ground. An easy method is to blow air into the fuel inlet with your mouth (use a piece of hose) and tip the carb until the air stops. That is the level. Cam.

float needle and seat..??? or float level . maybee a piece of junk got in there not letting float needle seal off the fuel. probably a combination of things :-D
