91 Kx 125 Carb issues...
« on: May 08, 2009, 04:28:16 PM »
I bought a '91 Kx 125 as a project bike about a year ago to fix up,,,I rebuilt the engine and fired it up about 2 weeks ago,,,Bike runs great in the upper rpm range but from idle to to mid range it loads up terrible,,,,If you run it in the lower rpm range for 20 to 30 seconds it will start to miss and sputter you have to rev it up several times to clear it out,,,Fouled out two plugs in the last 2 weeks since I fired it up....Running a 32:1 mix.......I thought I would rejet the carb,,,I pulled my jets out and it has a 35 pilot and a 132 main,,,I was thinking it should have somewhere around a 48 to 52 pilot and a 158 to a 162 main so I assume the previous owner of this bike had the same problem and jetted it way lean.....Iam thinking its not the right carb on the bike but I could be wrong PWKV675EG27.....The needle is in the top click,,Idle screw is turned all the way in,,,I have played with the air screw and that doesnt help anything.......I just bought another carb off ebay today so it should be in this week sometime.........Any ideas on what could be wrong with the carb thats on it now???

have you taken apart the carp and cleaned it really good cuz i have the same bike and it had a blown gearbox when i bought it so i just rebuilt the whole engine and i had sounds like the same problem i just cleaned the carb real good and my needle jet hada bunch of crap on it. and put in the a new plug in you could also try thining the mix  little and see if that helps
