1987 kx 500 jetting
K5DADDY:
Thanks Hughes for the reply and by the way what a beautiful bike! You have given me something to shoot for. I just got mine and it is in good shape but I already have plans to tear it down and start with a frame job this winter. As for now I will continue to play with the round slide carb as I would like to keep it. Like I said the bike runs great but i was looking to clean her up just a bit. Ahhhh the relentless pursuit of perfection. :-D I did put 1 heat range hotter plug in it ( a 7 instead of the book recommended 8). If anyone else has any tips or suggestions I would love to hear them. This is my first 500. I have previously always rode kx 250's. Thanks again! :-)

Here I was about 50% done. I was going for the factory/stock look for an 87 500.

I am starting to think my bike needs a good freshining up or the KIPS checked over and not the jetting messed with so much. Its just not as impressive as it should be. I still love the bike and will get it there, itjust might take me a season. With all the info available on here I just dont see how with a little time I cant make her scream like she should. As I stated before I am new to the site and am blown away by how many guys love these 500's. What a awesome site! :-)
