2004 KX 500 Gas tank swap

I want to replace the "ugly" stock 2.6 gal gas tank for a smaller one. I race MX and don't need that much capacity. Will a KX 250 or KX 125 tank fit? Any aftermarket smaller tanks that don't resemble the stock tank. Thanks....................Luke

I beleive that the 86-88 KX250/500 tank fits and is smaller.  Cam.

The 89 KX250 is the only one that is a smaller size that fits the K5 ( it is the on mine ). The 88 model is the larger size. I have a extra 89 tank. PM me if interested, I will get pics of spare tank and the K5 with the small tank. It is alot narrower and lower at the seat.

This is a new one on me, I sure would love to see some pics of the two tanks on a K-5 to see the diff. I would like to see a K-5 with that tank and the fender mod.

The 89 tank looks pretty much the same, just with the upper part cut down some.
