I just bought an '07 kx450 with low hours for $2800 on ebay. The engines are going for $1600 to $2000. That leaves me with an $800 to $1200 rolling chassis. How cheap can you buy a KX250? JFAB

thats avery good point i was thinking the same i know i can get a 2000 kx 250 in good shape some aftermarket parts no joke found acouple i guess because of the economy for 1000 to 800 i was thinking motor on the cheap side on ebay worth 400 to 500 .Mythinking was the fabrication involved in either build i cant weld so i have to farm that out .I know the best is to do what you have done with the kx450 .I guess im trying to be the cheapest i can .I read how you did your its sounds a little scary to jump into but i know its possible appreciate any other advice you might have thank you

Rmz..I think I saw a thread on here with one, maybe. On the other hand, your approach with the steel frame may be the best for you if you are going to farm the work out. It is a lot easier to find someone that can do a good job welding steel than aluminum. The lake mod 250's a very lite and nimble machine.
