Amsoil 50:1
stock500:
I have been running amsoil intercepter in my snowmobiles and my bike. I love the oil, and Amsoil says to mix at 50:1. I was going to do that until I talked to a couple of old timers that swear that if you do that you will fry the bottom end if you go leaner than 32:1, even if the spark plug is showing good color. I called Amsoil and talked to one of the Techs, and he assured me that it is safe to run 50:1. I ride from 6,500 ft to 10,000 ft here in western Wyoming so I need to be leaner because when I get on top of the mountains my bike has a hard time getting air. Any info would be great.

premix has came a long way sens the old days. back in the day bikes had a sticker telling you to mix at 20:1 that's crazy now days. a lot of manufacturers now suggest 40:1. a lot of Amsoil lovers use less oil than the 50:1 your worrying about.
Good:
I've been running the "Saber" at 90+ to 1 and if anything, it seems to keep it cooler.

50:1 is fine, man. Amsoil is the good oil too. You could easily be leaner on mixture with that oil. Old timers vs. Amsoil reps seems clear enough to me. Actually I think rich=heat. I'd be more worried about coming down a mountain and leaning it out by coasting too long and using the transmission to slow the pace. You're good to go with amsoil

I am so cheap that I turn my engine off and coast down the mountian so I save gas.
