currently running what came on my 1998 kx500 i recently bought- a pro circuit works with a pro circuit silencer.the silencer is kind of long for my taste.i am going to a switch to either a gnarley or a pro circuit platinum2,i was looking at the p.c. 304 silencers, are they any good??? if not who makes a shorter silencer??i dont care if its loud.or whats the best one out there?

Mick:
The OEM silencer is about as good as they come.  The FMF and PC models aren't any shorter in length and there is no difference in power output IMO.

98kaw5oo:
thanks mick,so a silencer is pretty much a silencer.im not too technical on it.i was just looking for a shorter silencer as the stock or aftermarket pro circuit silencer like i have on mine currently sticks out the back like a fat ladies ass.looking for something shorter.

98kaw5oo:
i thought the r-304 pro circuit silencer was shorter or at least had a shorter midpipe? anyone agree or whats your opinion

Mick:
Well yes the R-304 PC unit is shorter.  But it's not available for open class bikes.  Remember the shorter the silencer typically the less bottom and more top end it produces.  Those shorty style silencers are only meant for 125's and 250's.  The long tailpipe is just something you've got to get used to with a 500.  You think the KX's is long?  Look at a European spec CR500  :-o  From the bottom of the number plate to the tip of the fender!
