I also use undilluted dish soap, works great.

MIKECALDERA:
Damm thats long. is there a test on this later?

For those who want really fast changes: Trick is to use VICE GRIPS on your rim essentially stoping the tire from slipping. It works 100% but not on pretty rims!

Its ulgy but I can do it in under 5 mins.

I like amazing my friends (most of who can barely change a tire) with a sub 5 minute change.  I need to use 3 tire irons.  When you're doing it that fast however best to count your tools. I once left a tire iron inside (oops). Later when I was lubing my chain it didn't dawn on me why my wheel was so out of balance. As you can guess I got a flat next moto (but found my missing tire iron).
I also toss the rim band in favor of duct tape. Cam

KXcam22:
Rick,
I was reading your description again. It is really quite excellent. From experience, I know that it takes a lot of thought (and work) to describe a complicated action in words that others can easily follow.  Great post. Cam.

KXcam22:
A final note of wisdom.  Don't leave one of your tire irons inside (I actually did that once - couldn't figure out why the wheel balance was so far off). Cam.
