Muffler.....which I take?

Just to make sure we have a meeting of the minds.  Your working on your English and I thought I would make sure you have the correct words (in English) for the parts we are talking about.
The 1st picture is called the exhaust pipe or pipe.
The 2nd picture is the muffler or silencer.
The 2 parts together would be called the exhaust system.
I am working on my Spanish so I know how hard it is working with another language.
