helo to everyone.i am new member of this forum,also a new and prioud owner of kx500.i was reading many topics about kx500,but i still have some questiones.I have problem with my cylinder it has marks so i have to drill it and put a new shirt in it.I need to know wich tolerance has to be betwhen cylinder and piston,the piston  that i have plan to buy is an original from kawasaki .and how much workable hours i have to drive it in not full power after i put new piston.i prishiet evry advice about kx,cind of,whit wich things i hawe to be carefull to not ruin the engine.i live i place,where new parts four kx are so exspencive,and so hard to get them.so these advices are really important to me.thanks!

hi what problems do you have with the cylinder?  ie a score on the plating?

What year?

Do you need a new top end?

Cylinder is plated (coated with nikasil) and if not worn/grooved/gouged through to the aluminum cylinder you can leave it alone and put the appropriate piston (stock) back in with matching ring.

How about some good/big pictures of the cylinder so we can take a look...
