KX500 running problems

Hello,

I've had problems with idling, now my problem is a bit different. When I ride my kx500 with the choke off, it cuts out, runs very ruff and wants to die. Then I pull the choke up, the bike seems to run fine or a lot better.
I've to the point of just replacing the carb with a different one. If replacing is my only option. What all years interchange with the 1989 model PWK V461DB01?

Thank You,

Dan in Vacaville, Ca

doese your bike have a chrome slide in the carb or a gray slide and have you blown air thru pilot  jet  and what size pilot do you run

dans89kx500:
The slide is gray. I'm not sure what size the jet is???

stewart:
look for a newer chrome slide

Sounds to me like you simply have a partially plugged pilot jet.
